Crossrail Depot – Ilford
Project Value: £200,000
Duration: 12 weeks
The Crossrail Depot works involved the installation of a 180 mm SDR17 Protectaline fire main, a 125 mm SDR17 Protectaline potable main, and a rising main diversion, along with final connections including Thames Water drainage interfaces. All works included full testing, chlorination, and the provision of the required certification and results.
A major challenge on this project was the strict programme constraints driven by the high volume of contractors required to deliver the depot works within the overall Crossrail schedule. Additionally, ongoing design and specification changes added further complexity to the delivery.
To overcome these challenges, strong on-site relationship management with multiple contractors was essential to ensure that all works were coordinated, aligned with the client’s programme, and carried out safely given the number of personnel on site. Close collaboration with our supply chain also allowed us to respond quickly to design and specification changes, enabling our site team to implement revisions without causing delays.
The project was completed successfully within budget and within the agreed programme, with no compromise on quality and with safety maintained throughout.
